This epiphyte grows on trees along moist gullies around Brisbane. The plants have to 10 leathery leaves to 5cm long by 1cm wide. The flower stems carry to about 10 flowers 20mm across. The flowers are brown to reddish with narrow spathulate segments.

When in flower, the distinctive flowers cannot be confused with any other orchid in Brisbane.

A typical size plant with 5 leaves, 3 open flowers with another 4 still to open and a large seed pod still to ripen from last year. Last years seed pods are commonly found still attached when this orchid flowers.
