| This epiphyte or lithophyte grows in open forests in trees or rocks
overhanging creeks and rivers. Its favourite host is river oak and can be
found in large patches on the branches overhanging rivers. The fleshy leaves
to 30mm x 10mm are covered in lumps giving this orchid a distinctive look,
much like a cucumber giving it its common name of cucumber orchid.
The flowers are 12 across cream or greenish with reddish striations,
ruffled white labellum with purple spots.
This orchid cannot be confused with any other orchid whether in flower
or not. The lumpy leaves are unlike any other orchid. |
